True Calling

True Calling

Surprise! Brio has some new services to announce to the world.

We have so much to say about these exciting new offerings, but first, the story of how this shift in services came to be and why it’s the perfect fit for us.

For those of you who have followed us from the beginning, you may think we’re suffering from change fatigue (AGAIN BRIO? WHY?) Well, the biggest lesson we have learned on this entrepreneurial journey is that everything is an evolution and the businesses that survive are the ones who adapt. This is us adapting and finding our truest calling.

So, on to the story.

A few weeks ago, one of us (we can’t remember who) noticed that something was off about our Services page.

As we do with anything that doesn’t feel quite right, we took the time to investigate. We started thinking about all the things that marketing firms offer … and what we offered. Here’s a basic list of that stuff:

  • Website design and development
  • Email campaigns
  • Digital ad campaigns
  • Social media posts
  • Blogging & content creation
  • Content campaigns
  • Program development
  • Events
  • Analytics & reporting
  • SEO & SEM
  • Marketing automation

Yes, yes, and yes. We were nodding along, checking off the items that we had listed on our own Services page as things that we can do. Those big, beautiful keywords looked so good in a row … but why did we feel so “meh” about them? Other marketing firms do these things so well (some specialize and can do them way better than we ever could), so why were we playing in that arena?

It hit us like a ton of bricks: We shouldn’t be in that arena.

Brio has a unique approach, right? We specialize in Relationship Marketing and building authentic connections between our clients and their supporters. Of that list of juicy search-engine-friendly keywords we listed on our site, did any of them have anything to do with Relationships?

Not really! It’s just a list of tools and tactics that can be used to build and strengthen relationships … but only when used properly.

When used properly?

When used strategically.

Boom. Forget the bricks, that’s the sound of a piano falling on our faces.

It became crystal clear to us that moment that Relationship Marketing is all about strategy, and that Brio Marketing therefore needed to focus first and foremost on strategy. (We’re just going to let that bold statement sit there because you better believe we are going to write another blog post to prove it. Standby!)

But here’s the really glorious thing about our shift to being an exclusive strategy consultancy:

If you know us, you know that we LOVE the word “why.” It’s reflected in our Brio Credo, our reason for Starting Over, and literally the center of everything we do. The “why” is strategy. Since day one, strategy has always been at the heart of our work. Now, we’re choosing to make it our one and only. ❤️

So, if you look at our new Services page, the one that describes what we do, you won’t see that long laundry list of services that we can do anymore.

Instead, you’ll see only the things we do best: building strategies at every level for nonprofits and social enterprises. Simple.

We’ve found our happy place: The perfect intersection of work that feeds our soul, leverages our best abilities, and answers a growing need in the community that we serve. Watch out world, Brio has found its true calling.
